Austin Vet Care has developed a team of highly trained support staff, which includes veterinary technicians and assistants, and receptionists to maintain efficient quality patient/client care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Our staff has many years of experience in the veterinary field and their dedication to the profession is reflected in the compassionate care they give to each and every patient and pet owner.

Continuing education is a top priority for our entire staff. We conduct in-house lectures for our support staff and we also host seminars for members of the veterinary community. Employees are also encouraged to attend conferences outside the hospital in order to continue the education process.

Our team philosophy is to treat each pet as if it were our own, providing quality compassionate care at any time of the day or night.

Dr. Erica Hartmann-DVM 072915

Erica Hartmann
DVM, Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Erica Hartmann comes from the land of the cornhuskers.  She moved to Austin 6 years ago and has been working at Austin Vet Care during this entire time and is currently the Chief Medical Officer.  She met her husband Alex in San Antonio who recently retired from the Air Force.  Dr. Hartmann enjoys all aspect of medicine and surgery for cats and dogs.  She has been practicing for almost 10 years now and has done advanced training in the surgery field.  She has a large 100 pound dog named Boysen, her soul mate, who enjoys riding on and jumping off of her stand up paddle board and loves to swim in Townlake for hours on end.  She also has a chinchilla named Tipsy that has just turned 10 years old and is going strong.  She loves the live music scene here in Austin and, if she is not on her stand up paddle board, she will be at a venue checking out a band.  Her favor phrase in veterinary medicine is “Help me, Help you”. She likes to work as a team with the owners to determine the best plan for each pet.

Dr. Eric Clemons has been in practice for almost 15 years. He has worked at Austin Vet Care for 10 years and has special interests in dentistry and radiology. He obtained both his B.S. and D.V.M. degrees from Texas A&M University, so he is an Aggie through and through. Right after college, he married his beautiful wife Lisa and now has three awesome kids that keep them very busy. They have two dogs, two cats, a tortoise, a guinea pig and two fish. In his free time, Dr. Clemons enjoys building and restoring guitars and mountain biking.

Mark Cotnam

Dr. Mark Cotnam graduated from TAMU-CVM in 1980. He has practiced veterinary medicine for the last 35 years! He did 2 years of undergrad at San Antonio College before finishing his B.S in Biomedical Science at TAMU. He then did 3 years at the College of Veterinary Medicine before earning his Doctorate. Dr. Cotnam has 1 dog, a rescued 4 year old Chihuahua/dachshund mix named Jakobi. During his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughters. He also enjoys cartooning, playing the guitar and mandolin, and going to the movies.

Adrienne Gwin, DVM grew up in Dallas, Texas.  She graduated from Colorado State School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005.  Following a year-long internship at a specialty hospital outside of Washington D.C., Dr. Gwin moved to Austin and began work with Austin Vet Care.  She is married with two rambunctious boys.  She also has 2 dogs (Scout and Radar) and an ever fluctuating number of fish.  In her spare time, Dr. Gwin enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and friends.

Dr. Catherine Lamkin-DVM 072915

Catherine Lamkin

Dr. Catherine Lamkin has been at Austin Vet Care since 2007. She started her journey in the veterinary field as a Vet Tech/receptionist while pursuing her Bachelor’s degree at OSU. She later graduated from OSU as a doctor of veterinary medicine. Dr. Lamkin has two diabetic pugs. When she is not working she enjoys gardening and playing hide & seek with her son.

Nancy Callaway

Nancy Callaway has been working as a veterinarian for 20 years. She started working part-time at Austin Vet Care when it was North Austin Emergency Hospital in 1996, and then started working full-time in 2005 when it was named Central Park Animal Hospital. Dr. Callaway adopted 2 dogs after they were brought in having Parvo virus; they are her family! She recently added a third pooch to her family after finding a stray on the roads of Louisiana. She graduated from Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. In her free time she enjoys gardening, rock hunting, hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, taking her dogs to the park, and when she gets the chance, traveling.


Eden Myers

Eden Myers obtained her DVM from Auburn University in 2001 and a Masters in Nutrition in 2003. Eden has worked as an associate in mixed, small animal and emergency practices. She lives with her family in northwest Austin, where she has a big life outside of veterinary medicine- including being co-leader with multiple Girl Scout troops, taking singing lessons and learning to sew with her son.


Scott Sabelhaus

Dr. Scott Sabelhaus was born and raised outside of Dallas, Texas. He obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology at The University of Texas at Dallas while working as a veterinary technician and playing in a touring band. Upon completion of undergraduate college, Dr. Sabelhaus worked as a research technician for the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center performing biochemical and nuclear magnetic resonance imaging research. Shortly after, he moved out to California with his pup Macy to attend Western University of Health Sciences College of Veterinary Medicine. He met his beautiful wife in veterinary school and moved out to the San Diego area after graduation. During his first year in San Diego he attended a small animal rotating internship at VCA Emergency Animal Hospital and Referral Center. Since the completion of his internship, Dr. Sabelhaus worked in general practice and emergency veterinary hospitals; and welcomed the birth of his son. Besides emergency and critical care medicine, his professional interests include surgery, internal medicine, ophthalmology, neurology, nutrition, and ruminant medicine and surgery. Outside of the profession, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends. His hobbies include physical fitness, drumming, music, fishing, hiking and being outdoors.

Team Development Manager/ Veterinary Technician

Jessica moved to Austin in 2013 from Connecticut.  She graduated in 2010 from the University of Connecticut with a bachelors in animal science and has been working as a veterinary technician since 2005. In her spare time she enjoys riding horses and spending time with her son.

Veterinary Technician/Surgery Technician Supervisor

Josie has worked in the veterinary field for over eight years, all of these at Austin Vet Care. She currently shares her home with two dogs, one cat, her two daughters and husband. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her kids, helping with reading, homework, entertainment and playing at area parks.

Veterinary Technician

Jared recently moved to Austin from New York. He studied Paramedicine at Monroe Community College and continued his studies of critical care through the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He has previously worked as a critical care paramedic as well as lab instructor for the paramedic program. In his free time, Jared enjoys exploring Austin with his growing menagerie of animals which include two dogs, a potbelly pig, and a cat.

Veterinary Technician

Michelle has been in the veterinary field since 2008. She began working at Austin Vet care after relocating from Humble, Texas in 2015. Michelle has a deep love for animals. Her companions include 2 dogs, 2 cats, some fish, a frog, and some ghost shrimp. During her time off she enjoys walking her dogs, listening to music as she cleans, and playing video games.

Veterinary Technician

Devin Gonzalez is from the small town of Carthage, Texas and she has always loved animals. She loves joking around and making the best out of every situation good or bad. In the past, Devin fostered weak animals at the shelters, nursed them, and found them forever homes. After that she decided she wanted to do more to help our furry friends. Devin joined the US Army and was an animal care specialist. She has worked with K9 units, Border Patrol dogs, and other military working dogs. She received an honorable medical discharge after a few unplanned surgeries and joined Austin Vet Care May 2017. She has had many pets before including a hedgehog that she hid from her mom for about 3 months when she was younger. Devin now just has her baby girl Trixie who is a Pitbull-Weenie mix. Trixie is super cute. Devin rescued Trixie and Trixie rescued her. When not at work She is usually found at the gym, shooting range or floating on a body of water (because it’s 5-o-clock somewhere)

Asia joined AVC Central May 2017. Asia moved to Austin in 2015. She is originally from Houston and has been in the veterinary field for about 2 years now. She loves it & can’t see herself doing anything else. She has a wolf pack of 5 that lives in Houston with her mother and a cat named Sushi has adopted her as her owner. In her spare time she loves being outdoors, taking photos or brunching.

Marie started working in a vet clinic when she was sixteen and loved it so much she ended up coming back to the field after getting her Bachelor of Science in college. She joined Austin Vet care in late 2015. She has an Australian Shepherd named Indy and a black cat named Pru. In her free time, she enjoys writing short stories and playing video games.

Veterinary Technician

Tommie has been in the vet field for about 10 years. She loves being around animals and interacting with them & their owners. She is a wife and a mother of 2 wonderful boys. They have a silly dog named JJ who was a stray that came into the clinic when he was about 2 month old. He now has his forever home and they can’t imagine their family without him. Tommie loves spending time with her family, riding horses, fishing, going on hikes, and cuddling with her boys.

Teylor is originally from California and has been in Texas for five years, most recently Austin. Teylor has been in veterinary field for two years after joining the Austin Vet Care team in October 2015.  She loves spending her spare time with family and friends, exploring what Austin has to offer, as well as caring for her two very energetic Australian Shepherds, Jackson and Orion.

Tammy has been in the veterinary field since 2010. She began volunteering at the Humane Society in Silicon Valley. She has been at Austin Vet Care at Central Park since July 2013. Tammy has two darling Havanese dogs that are the loves of her life. She received her certification as a vet assistant from Foothill College and has been working towards her technician license for the past 3 years.

Nikki Gilbert very recently joined the AVC team. She graduated in 2016 from The University of Texas at Austin with a bachelors degree in Biomedical Engineering. She wishes to continue her education in the veterinary sciences and obtain a DVM. In her free time, Nikki plays a multitude of sports, including basketball and ultimate frisbee.

Cynthia Palmer- Practice Manager

Cynthia has worked in the Veterinary field since 2005. She stumbled into the veterinary field when offered at job with a veterinary dental clinic in south Florida during college. It was at this clinic where she discovered her passion for veterinary medicine. Cynthia met her husband, Chad, while he was stationed in Miami for the US Coast Guard. They left Florida after Chad received orders to California. Cynthia joined Austin Vet Care, in April 2015, after Chad received an honorable discharge from the USCG.   She and her husband have 2 young boys: Chase & Christopher. Their Family wouldn’t be complete without her Boxer, Elsa, and newly adopted Pitbull puppy, Emma. When she is not at work, Cynthia spends her time making new memories with the family, exploring all that Austin has to offer.

Laura originally moved to Austin 19 years ago to pursue a B.S. degree in Biochemistry at The University of Texas.  After graduating, she settled in Austin permanently.  She has worked in the veterinary field as a technician and manager for over 17 years.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading, hiking with her dogs, gardening and sampling all the fine restaurants Austin has to offer.  She currently shares her house with three pit bulls, Zella, Grimm and Rufus.

Raina has worked as a Customer Service Representative in the Veterinary field for many years. She has been with Austin Vet Care for 7 years.  Raina owns 2 very high-spirited French Bulldogs named Gumbo and Jambalaya, which definitely keep her busy. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends and watching and cheering when her three sons play basketball.

Amber has worked at Austin Vet Care for many years. She loves animals! She has a toy poodle named Cindy and three cats named Madelyn, Hope, & T-bone Walker. Amber also has a Pacman frog (Popeye), two ball pythons (Moto & Moyo) and a fish tank. Her interests include running, boating, biking and going to the gym. She enjoys being outdoor during her spare time.


Sandra joined the team at AVC in September 2015. She has 4 pets: an Australian Shepherd, 2 cats, and a hedgehog. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, baking, and reading.

Leah graduated in 2015 from St. Edward’s University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology. After working briefly in dentistry and orthodontics, she decided she wanted to work in veterinary science. She currently has one small mixed breed dog named Jasper but would love to have a whole pack. In her spare time, Leah enjoys Austin restaurants and live music.

Cory moved to Austin four years ago, after graduating from Texas A&M University.  She is new to the Veterinary field, but has been a long time provider of customer service and has always been a lover of animals. Growing up in a small household, she was only allowed to have cats and finally adopted first stray dog (Tootsie) last year. It was love at first sight. When not at work, she likes to spend lots of quality time with Tootsie and friends.

Kelly at nineteen years old has just begun her career. She has lived outside of Austin in Dripping Springs her whole life. She is enrolled at UHV and plays collegiate soccer, working on her Bachelors in Psychology and Associates in Criminal Justice. Her goal is to work on becoming a Lawyer for Animal Welfare and Environmental Rights. She has an Australian Shepard named Rue, and a Paint Quarter Horse named Milkyway.


Taj is new to the vet care field, but comes with over three decades of customer care expertise. She moved to Austin in 1997 to continue her career in wine sales and education, then began her Master's degree in psychological counseling, which she is currently pursuing. She was drawn to the vet field after looking for a great job that would allow her to use her skills helping people in challenging situations. She is a lifelong owner and enthusiast of Siamese cats, having raised and rescued them since the age of 15. Her current buddy is a loud, beautiful blue point named Asher. She has been with Austin Vet Care since April 2017.
